TRACY DIINA COMMUNICATIONS EXPANDS GRANTWRITING SERVICES; ADDS NEW CONSULTANT

01.06.10 - Tracy Diina Communications has expanded our grantwriting services by partnering with local grantwriter Tracy Gath. We are now equipped to write twice as many high quality grants as before, and are eager to help your organization with its needs.

Tracy Gath earned her BA from Antioch College, and subsequently held positions in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Although she grew up in Western New York, she moved to Washington DC after college and served as the editor of Science Books & Films, a review journal of science materials published by the the American Association for the Advancement of Science. While there, she collaborated on a number of government grant proposals (e.g., National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy) and helped produce a GED curriculum (“How Drugs Affect the Brain”) and a series of adult literacy books in the areas of science and health (The Brain Book, HIV and AIDS: The Science Inside). Tracy also served as a volunteer science teacher and board member for a local nonprofit GED program, eventually serving as Vice President.

Although she loved the exciting opportunities afforded by Washington, Tracy always planned to settle closer to home, where people are warm and friendly and summer is perfect. After moving back, she served as the Web and Marketing Manager for a local scientific instrument company, whose business grew five-fold during her tenure there, and then as Marketing Director for a local construction company. For fun, she found herself back in the family business—skydiving—and started jumping again. For four years, she ran the office on weekends to support her hobby and served for three years on the board of directors, eventually as President. Tracy left the sport in 2002 with nearly 500 jumps logged.

She eventually served as Development Director for Springville Center for the Arts, where she was responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing financial support. Her grant proposals brought in much-needed funding from state, county, and private foundations, such as the New York State Council on the Arts, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, M&T Bank, and Erie County.

Tracy’s experience in writing, editing, marketing, web design and fundraising serves her well in her current capacity as an independent grant writer. She is passionate about helping nonprofits in their quest to improve the lives of Western New Yorkers.
